Thirty years ago, our country was facing a very difficult situation: the economic and social development was slow and the people’s food and clothing problem was not solved. The reform and opening up have brought about historic changes in China’s economy and society: achievements in world economy that have attracted worldwide attention; steady progress in industrialization and urbanization; continually expanding fields and scale of opening to the outside world; and changes in social structure brought about by the reform and opening up.
