1 3COM 3Com was founded in 1979 by Bob Metcalfe, the inventor of Ethernet, and is a pioneer in the international computer data network. 3Com is headquartered in Santa Clara, Silicon Valley, California, and has a global presence of a large number of scientific research, manufacturing, market development, sales and service organizations, employing more than 3,000 people. 3Com’s flagship products include: Adapters, Hubs, Bridge, Routers, Switching Devices (ATM, FDDI, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Token Ring), Small, Medium, and Large Network Access Devices And network management software. In fiscal year 1995, 3Com’s total sales exceeded US$1.3 billion, an increase of 57% over 1994, and it is firmly positioned as the world’s leading supplier of network products.
