Gori is the birthplace of Stalin. He was born from 1879 until his graduation from the Gori primary school in 1894. Gori is now in the Soviet Union’s Republic of Georgia, 76 km from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. According to the 1970 statistics, the population is 48,000. The southern Caucasus, where Gori was located, was a typical colony in the era of Czarist Russia and was deeply oppressed by the people. Since the seventies of the 18th century, with the development of capitalism, a working class has emerged here, and the working people of workers and peasants have begun to organize themselves. During Russia’s revolution from 1905 to 1907, Gori was a center of revolution in Georgia. After the October Revolution, Gori established a cotton mill, canned food factory and timber mill.
