The effect of rat vagus nerve dorsal nucleus (DMV) on regulating gastric function and affecting electroacupuncture in protecting gastric mucosal injury was studied. Compared with the sham operation group and the other brain tissue (DMG), the damage of DMV group could decrease the gastric mucosal blood flow and the transmembrane potential difference and intensify after the stress (P <0.01). Destruction of DMV can basically eliminate the protective effect of electroacupuncture on gastric mucosal injury. The results suggest that central vagal pathways, particularly DMV, play an important role in regulating gastric function and affecting the protective effects of electroacupuncture.
