Claude Simon made a unique writing about the absurd situation of the 20th century French war history and public survival and the abnormal development of post-war industrial civilization. His novels are rooted in the deep ideological and psychological structure of Western civilization, Linked with the archetypal ancient human behavior, trying to help the modern man find a way and balance in the chaotic history. By persistently pointing to cultural prototypes, novel narrators both express contradictions and conflicts between human and social environment as well as the uniqueness of individuals and the universality of human experience. This article starts with the method of archetypal criticism and explores the concern and exploration of Simon novels about human self from the aspects of war, women, city and nature. Rich cultural images and mythological prototypes form a stable center of collective subconsciousness, with the power to defend human freedom and shape the emotions of life, and at the same time, bring about a path and wisdom for observing history and judging life.
