修建地方道路时,有时遇到老石拱桥因其存在某些问题,而未能得到利用;这是很可惜的。因为加固一座老石拱桥,无论如何要比新建一座同长度的任何类型桥梁便宜得多,甚至比新建一座临时性木桥的费用还要少些。从材料方面来比较,当然节约建筑材料很多,从施工方面来比较,也比新建任何类型桥梁快得多。一经加固之后,即成了永久式桥,不仅建桥经费得到了大大的节约,而且使用能力还和新桥一样。因此,我们在测设公路路线工作中,遇到老石拱桥,必须详细研究其利用和加固,才是符合多快好省建设社会主义的精神。
