2006-2007年8月在辽宁省营口市老边区多家育苗场室内人工养殖海参池中发生大量海绵繁殖现象。该生物能在海参室内养殖池中迅速繁殖,成片地附着生长在海参附着基上,不仅影响海参附着环境,而且其分支状的锋利边缘会划伤幼参体表,引起病原菌的继发感染,对海参养殖业有相当的危害,经过初步鉴定认为该物种为软节蜂海绵。
