今年8月1日起,现代化的京津城际高速铁路将北京、天津两个特大城市更紧密地连结在一起,两大城市间形成“半小时经济圈”。京津城际高速铁路自北京南站至天津站,全长120公里,2005年7月4日开工,今年6月底完工,7月1日开始了载重试运行,各项性能指标均达国际一流高标准,8月1日正式运营。
