DVD 是 Digital Versatile Disc 的缩写,自从上世纪90年代中期推出以来,品种不断增加,如今已成为一个大家族。正如过去的 CD 家族包含有音乐 CD、Video CD 及 CD-ROM 等多种格式,只不过 DVD 家族更大,品种更丰富。不同种类的 DVD 执行不同的标准,相关的标准及规格是由一个国际组织——DVD Forum(DVD 论坛)制订的。DVD 论坛现有200多家会员,包括 Sony、JVC、Toshiba、Thomson、Pioneer、Hitachi 等。DVD 论坛针对不同种类的 DVD 分别制订了相关的规格书,分别称为 BOOK A、BOOK B、BOOK C、BOOK D 和 BOOK E 五大类。迄今为止,所有的规格都只包括“红光”DVD。至于“蓝光”DVD,因目前尚未有统一的规格书及标准,故不在本文的讨论范围之中。
DVD is an abbreviation for Digital Versatile Disc, which has grown in popularity since it was introduced in the mid-1990s and is now a big family. Just as in the past CD family includes music CD, Video CD and CD-ROM and other formats, but the DVD family is larger, more diverse species. Different kinds of DVDs implement different standards, and related standards and specifications are set by an international organization, the DVD Forum. The DVD Forum has more than 200 members, including Sony, JVC, Toshiba, Thomson, Pioneer, Hitachi and so on. DVD forum for different types of DVD were developed related to the specification, respectively, called BOOK A, BOOK B, BOOK C, BOOK D and BOOK E five categories. So far, all specifications include only the “red DVD”. As for the “Blu-ray” DVD, because there is no unified specifications and standards, it is not in the scope of this article.
