环廊,是指档案馆库房采用的环廊形式建筑,即在库内以内墙,使库房内墙与外墙之间形成一道环形走廊,亦称回形环廊。采用环廊形式建筑,一是有利于档案库房防尘、防光以及防止库外的各种不利因素对库房档案的直接影响;二是环廊可作为交通通道或过渡间,便于档案工作人员进出库房;三是取暖和电器设施可置于廊内,减少库内附属设施。下面就双鸭山市档案馆设置环廊提供的1998年测量数据为例,试析环廊对温湿度的影响。双市档案馆大楼建于1991年,大楼共6层,其中第5层为档案库房。库房采用环形走廊形式建筑,在环廊的南北两侧及库内分别放置了温湿度观测仪,每天观测并记录,参照记录可以从宏观上看出全年的温度和湿度的变化情况以及环廊对库房所产生的影响。
