There are two opposite views of truth in the early Christian religious philosophy. A representative of Augustin, advocating “truth is existence ”. Another is represented by Boai, who advocates that “truth does not exist.” Aquinas objected to both Augustine’s and Orthodox views on the truth of Bo’ai, arguing that truth is the conformity or unification of things or being and reason. Aquinas objected to Augustine’s view of truth in order to emphasize the difference between truth and things or existence and to better explain his principle of existence before essence. The reason why he opposed the view of the truth of Bo’ai was to emphasize the unity of truth and things or existence and emphasize the ontological basis of truth.
