香港是中国最先接触西方文化的前沿之一。从20世纪初开始,随着中国社会矛盾的加剧和革命思潮的风起云涌,香港的特殊地位日益显露,政治和经济环境的独特性更加明显,这为香港美术的萌芽与发展提供了必要的条件。20世纪香港的美术发展历经波折,不同时期或者相同时期的不同面,表现出惊人的差异,呈现出艺术形式的多样性、表现手法的融合性和题材内容的通俗性等基本特色。
Hong Kong is one of the forefront of China’s access to Western culture. Since the beginning of the 20th century, with the intensification of social contradictions in China and the surging revolutionary ideology, the special status of Hong Kong has become increasingly evident. The uniqueness of the political and economic environment is even more obvious. This provides the necessary conditions for the sprout and development of Hong Kong art. In the 20th century, the art development of Hong Kong has shown striking differences in twists and turns, different periods or different periods in the same period, showing the basic characteristics of the diversity of the forms of art, the fusion of performance techniques and the popularity of the theme.
