The large size of non-metallic inclusions in slab is the main reason for the surface defects of IF steel cold-rolled sheet. Therefore, the morphology, type, size and quantity distribution of inclusions in ultra-low carbon IF steel slab were analyzed by SEM Area (58897.3mm ~ 2) comprehensive testing. The results show that there are mainly three types of large size inclusions in the steady state billet of IF steel, most of them are cluster-like alumina inclusions and cluster-like TiOx-Al 2 O 3 inclusions, and a few “bubbles + Al2O3 ”. The quantitative analysis of the distribution of inclusions of different sizes near the surface of the slab has been carried out in detail and the reasons for the distribution of the quantity have been discussed. The results show that the number distribution of the inclusions with a diameter of more than 100 μm in the surface layer of the slab is significantly affected by the developed degree of the hooked shell, while the inclusions with the diameter of 20 ~ 50 μm are distributed more evenly in the near surface of the slab. Asymmetric flow field in the mold, the number distribution of inclusions 20 ~ 50μm along the slab width direction is not completely symmetrical.
