Thomas J. Barfield is currently a professor of anthropology at Boston University. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and received a PhD in social anthropology from Harvard University in 1978. Barfield’s research focuses on Afghanistan, field work mainly in northern Afghanistan, he also had a short period of investigation in our country, Xinjiang and Uzbekistan.
