明山水库壩高32.5公尺,系组合式粘土心墙壩,心墙边坡上下游皆为1∶0.15,上游壩壳填筑壤土,下游为砂壳。壩基复盖层厚度为6~12公尺,由颗粒较均匀的粗砂淤积而成,不均匀系数为3~7。河床以下6~7公尺处,有厚1公尺以上的卵石夹砂层,不均匀系数为38~45。砂的有效粒径为0.3~0.45公厘,卵石最大直径为150公厘。左岸系打板椿围堰开挖至岩盤,除填筑一段粘土心墙外,与防渗连锁管柱相接处另浇筑一段长7公尺的混凝土高墙直达河床并置有锁口。为了避免开挖与管柱施工的干扰,右岸也改成了管柱处理,直达山坡,直接与原设计的混凝土
