When I woke up in the tawning song of Kinshasa every morning, I forgot for a moment that I was in a dangerous country. In September 2003, I traveled alone to Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in central Africa, where I was chief correspondent for the Kinshasa branch of Xinhua News Agency. The city of 6 million now known as the first African city in the world three or four decades ago is nowhere near. As a journalist, I am experiencing new things
