Nippon Steel and Toho Titanium jointly develop titanium alloys that are about 30% less costly and easier to machine than conventional ones. The composition of the original titanium alloy titanium 90%, 6% aluminum, palladium 4%. The original price of 4000 yen / kg, while the newly developed titanium alloy can be reduced to 2500-3000 yen / kg. The main measure is to replace iron with expensive palladium to prevent grain growth after heating; the other with oxygen and nitrogen to replace aluminum, to improve the plasticity of titanium alloys. Its best composition is as follows: 97.95% titanium, 1.5% iron, 0.5% oxygen and 0.05% nitrogen; σ_h≥1000kg / mm ~ 2 and δ≥20% at room temperature. As anti-fatigue properties have improved, is conducive to processed into thinner products at high temperatures.
