1905年2月28日,许世友出生于河南新县,自幼家贫。虽然生活困苦,但许世友并没有向命运低头,他常对周围的玩伴说:“将来,一定让那些地主恶霸倒过来走路,看他们还敢不敢欺负咱们!”许世友喜欢习武,由于没有钱,他就去给武术师傅做杂役,换取学武的费用。久而久之,武师被许世友的精神所感动,告诉他:“天下武功源少林,想学正宗的真功夫,就去少林寺”。
