厚葬祖先,泽被子孙,这是我们中华民族沿袭了几千年的传统习俗。然而,我们的开国总理周恩来却是个例外。他当上一国总理之后,不仅没有为自己家中的先人修陵造墓,还先后用各种方法把绍兴、淮安和重庆这三处的先祖及父亲的坟就地平掉,坟地交给当地农民使用,首开中华民族殡葬改革的先河。对这件事,周恩来说“人死了,不做事了,还要占一块地盘(指坟墓),这是私有观念的表现。”不仅如此,周恩来生前还留下嘱咐:
