Recently, the Thai Railways (SRT) and the French company Alstom South Asia have signed a contract for nine electric-powered diesel locomotives with a power of 2,400 hp. The nominal price of this order is about 63 million francs, including some spare parts. The nine locomotives and their spare parts ordered will be delivered in 1983. This is the same type of locomotive that Thai Railways ordered to France for the third time since 1973 and 1979.
