AT & T announced the recent experimental results of its gigabit-rate coherent optical signal transmission at a joint conference on integrated optical and fiber optic communications and the 11th European Optical Communications Symposium. Experiments using the latest receiver, the sensitivity far more than any other receiver at a gigabit per second rate of 93 miles (150km) through the glass fiber to transmit coherent light signals.
