2005年6月2日,湖南省望城县黄金乡张华龙村水稻田中发现稻蝗危害,发生面积600亩左右。据望城保县植保站技术人员调查,蝗虫密度严重田每平方米200-300只,已开始进入暴食阶段。专家现场调查后指出,如不采取有力措施及时搞好防治,将对农作物造成毁灭性灾害,导致周围几千亩早稻失收。由于该地二、三十年都未发生过如此严重的蝗虫危害,这突如其来的蝗虫危害让农民有些束手无策,很多农民担心辛苦种植的稻苗被蝗虫吞食。目前,省、市、县植保部门已于发现蝗虫危害的第二天组成专家组到现场调查并指导防治工作,望城县植保站迅速为农民免费提供了良好
