Into the mysterious family of diplomats I am a fantasy Central Plains girl. After graduating from a private university in Beijing in 2001, I thought I was a foreign language professional and could easily be a translator or a tour guide lady. I did not expect that the employment situation in the capital city was not optimistic. One day, my girlfriend, Lily, told me that a company in Dongcheng District is going to hold a training course on advanced home economics services and requires students to have a university degree. After graduation, they will work in foreigners’ homes in Beijing and receive the equivalent of white-collar workers. Perhaps out of curiosity, coupled with too much romance and fantasy in my bones, at that time I almost did not consider how to register. After getting the certificate, I and the other girls were very lucky to enter the embassy district.
