Objective To understand the clinical knowledge of HIV / AIDS testing counseling conducted by clinicians in Ningbo and to explore ways to improve HIV and syphilis testing services for STD patients. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among clinicians and nurses in relevant departments of STD clinics in 45 hospitals. Results The respondents found that there was a high awareness rate of AIDS basic knowledge (98.9%) and 84 (95.5%) knew that HIV and syphilis screening had been carried out in STS and 71 (80.7%) had STD diagnostic criteria 88 (100.0%) medical staff were willing to take the initiative to recommend STD patients for HIV and syphilis testing. Among them, 85 (96.6%) had voluntarily recommended STD patients for HIV and syphilis testing. There were significant differences in the training of different departments (χ2 = 7.701, P = 0.001). The respondents reported that there are many reasons why HIV and syphilis-related testing may be more difficult because they lack the time to do ideological counseling and the volunteers do not have sufficient awareness of the tests. Conclusion Clinicians are aware of HIV and syphilis detection policies of STD patients and are willing to take the initiative to recommend them for HIV and syphilis testing. However, there are still some problems such as the lack of awareness of volunteers and the scope of technology training in relevant departments. To increase voluntary testing among STD clinicians and to enhance relevant training for health care workers in other departments so as to create a good medical environment.
