very用法七规则

  very作为副词, 汉语意思是“很”或“非常”。尽管very是个较常用的词, 但是很多学生还是不能正确地使用它。下面就very的主要用法作一归纳。
  1. very可修饰形容词和副词的原级或最高级,不修饰比较级。修饰比较级常用much, far, even, rather等。例如:
  ①He plays football very well. 他足球踢得很好。
  ②She is one of the very best teachers in our city.
  她是我们市里最好的老师之一。
  ③The population of China is much larger than that of America.
  中国人口比美国人口多得多。
  2. very不修饰现在分词和过去分词,但可修饰由它们转化来的形容词。例如:
  ①The book is very interesting. 这本书非常有趣。
  ②What the teacher said was very inspiring.
  老师说的话非常鼓舞人心。
  ③That was a very frightened elephant. 那是一头极度受惊的大象。
  ④I am very pleased to see you. 见到你很高兴。
  3. very一般不修饰某些表语形容词alike, asleep, sure, worth, awake, alone, alive, afraid等。而常用well, quite, fast, much等其它副词。例如:
  ①The two brothers are very much alike and we can’t tell them apart.
  这两个兄弟长得很像,我们很难区分他们。
  ②The film is well worth seeing. 这部电影很值得一看。
  ③They feel quite sure that they will win the game.
  他们很有把握赢这次比赛。
  4. very不修饰某些类别形容词right, direct, empty, free, full, open, proper, real, single, wrong等。而常用quite, rather, too等其它副词。例如:
  ①Our answer is not quite right. 我们的回答并不十分正确。
  ②The theatre was not quite full. 戏院尚未全满。
  ③Your son’s manner is rather free in the presence of his teachers.
  你儿子在老师面前举止未免太随便了。
  5. very不修饰动词,而常用much, very much, quite等其它副词。例如:
  ①They trusted their own sense of touch very much.
  他们非常相信自己的触觉。
  ②He went much to the park on weekends. 他周末常去公园。
  6. very一般不修饰介词短语,而常用much, quite等其它副词。例如:
  ①They completed the project much on their own.
  他们全靠自己完成了那项工程。
  ②A lamp was hanging quite over the table.
  一盏灯就悬在桌子上方。
  7. very可用作形容词,有“真正的,正是……的,十足的”等意。例如:
  ①You are the very person I want to see. 你正是我要见的人。
  ②I will do it this very afternoon. 我就在今天下午办这件事。
  ③He is a very fool. 他是个十足的傻瓜。
