The fact that the new proximity jet sensor invented by Raymond N. Auger has proven to be widely used as an industrial control device. Therefore, this paper discusses the working principle of the proximity jet sensor and its static and dynamic characteristics, and discusses its application as a material handling machinery control device. Proximity to the jet sensor is based on the principle of interaction between adjacent free jets. That is, when a divergent circular cone jet is used, the jet converges and contains air bubbles due to mutual attraction, so that the inside of the air bubble is in a vacuum state. When the object approaches the convergent jet, the shape of the jet changes greatly, destroying the necessary conditions for mutual attraction. As a result, the conic jets diverge, bringing the pressure in the bubble area close to the atmospheric pressure.
