“Tiger ” Woods’s strong return this year, thanks in large part to his change of his swing. After he had a knee injury surgery in December 2002, he started to modify his swing. As a young athlete, his strength and explosiveness are very strong, so he used to swing faster by swinging his left knee to drive his lower body. However, over the long term, his left knee has undergone too much pressure. He can no longer use the swing after the surgery, and with the combined efforts of coach Hank Haney, he’s now swinging smoother than before. As long as he can maintain his balance (due to his appropriate reduction in the lower body movement range), “Tiger ” can hit the ball squarely. Surprisingly, after changing the swing, his kick-off distance did not suffer. In fact, his average distance this year is 315.4 yards compared with the average of 297.6 yards in 2001.
