1991年10月16日,国务院、中央军委颁布命令,授予钱学森“国家杰出贡献科学家”荣誉称号和一级英雄模范奖章,表彰他为祖国科技事业的发展所做出的卓越贡献。钱学森1955年回国,是中国航天科技事业的先驱和杰出代表,被誉为“中国航天之父”和“火箭之王”。在空气动力学、航空工程、喷气推进、工程控制论、物理力学等技术科学领域作出了开创性贡献。他是中国近代力学和系统工程理论与应用研究的奠基人和倡导人。
On October 16, 1991, the State Council and the Central Military Commission issued an order granting Qian Xuesen the honorary title of “National Excellent Contribution Scientist” and a model heroic medal in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology in the motherland. He returned to China in 1955 and is a pioneer and distinguished representative of China’s space science and technology. He is reputed as the “father of China’s spaceflight” and the “king of rockets.” In the aerodynamics, aeronautical engineering, jet propulsion, engineering control theory, physical mechanics and other fields of science and technology made a pioneering contribution. He is the founder and advocate of the theory and application of modern Chinese mechanics and systems engineering.
