The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey full-speed production plan faces an indefinite postponement after two catastrophic crashes in eight consecutive months. The United States Marine Corps has requested that the Director of Procurement of the United States Department of Defense not decide to begin full-scale MV-22 production until December 11, 2000, to determine the cause of the MV-22 crash. The first 16 MV-22s and four CV-22s ordered for the U.S. Air Force were pending. After the crashes, the U.S. Marines suspended eight MV-22 flight tests and the U.S. Army stopped two CV-22s.
