杜彦耿，1896年生于上海一个营造世家。他天资聪颖，业余时间刻苦钻研建筑技术和英文，对西方近代建筑技术的精髓深有所得。他在万岁左右已开始独立承建工程项目，到30岁时，承揽了～幢六层高的办公大楼和一幢七层高的栈房，这在当时的上海已经算是很大的建筑了。1931年上海建 Du Yanyu was born in Shanghai in 1896 as a family builder.
