戏剧批评有四个功能,即描述功能、阐释功能、评价功能和规范功能。其中描述功能和阐释功能回答的是是什么的问题,评价功能回答的是怎么样的问题,批评不应该仅仅停留在描述和阐释上,严格意义上的戏剧批评就是要在科学、理性分析的前提下进行价值评判。当前戏剧批评所面临的问题,从根本上可以概括为戏剧批评的核心功能也即价值评判功能的缺失,或者说是精英立场的匮乏。那么,要回归戏剧批评的价值评判功能,就必须尊重戏剧批评的基本原则和基本精神,必须把握好求疵与寻美这两个向度,并且重视戏剧批评的引领作用。
