形容词“莫大”是由古汉语“莫大于”结构凝缩而成的主谓式复合词,中古时期开始广泛使用。“莫大”的词汇化经历了复杂的句法语义演变,其间,“莫大于”结构的主观化造成现代汉语中“莫大”的语义搭配限制。
Adjective “great ” is a compound of the main predicate by the ancient Chinese “greater than ” structure condensed from the Middle Ages began to be widely used. The lexicalization of “greatness” has undergone complicated syntactic and semantic evolution. In the meantime, the subjectivity of “greater than ” structure has caused the semantic confinement of “greatness ” in modern Chinese.
