植物的生物产量(包括根、茎、叶、种子等)。只有5—10%的物质靠根部吸收的营养物质,而90—95%的物质来自植物光合作用的产物。农业的增产措施许多是通过调节光能利用、光合作用的进程及光合产物的分配而获得的。随着科学技术的发展,目前对农作物选育工作的新动向是:进行理想株型育种,提高光合效率,筛选光呼吸强度低、光合效率高的品种类型。
