A team led by Bethel, a professor of psychology and head of culture, immigration and mental health programs at the Department of Psychology at the University of Ryerson in Toronto, Canada, conducted a 10-year study of 2,000 children and their families from six different cities in mainland China, Hong Kong and the Philippines . With more than 30 researchers involved, the study is part of a long-term follow-up survey of 4,000 immigrants and refugee children living in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Amington, Calgary and Vancouver.
