This study investigated the mental health of 650 nurses in five general hospitals in Changsha City and the psychosocial factors that affect mental health through cluster sampling. The results show that the average SCL-90 and majority of factors in the sample are higher than those in China. Ordinary model score (P<0.01). Common psychological disorders include somatization, depression and coercion. The mental health of middle-aged (30-39-year-old and 40-49-year-old) samples was lower than that of other age groups. Univariate analysis and multivariate regression analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between TH, CH, and life event scores in the past year and mental health (the correlation coefficients were 0.1977, 0.1604, and 0.3138, respectively. Both are less than 0.01), and social support is positively correlated with mental health. The author discusses the factors affecting nurses’ mental health. The results of this study can be used as the basis for nurses’ mental health care, psychological counseling and psychotherapy work.
