Confucianism, as a traditional Chinese culture, gives people an ideal of design. When designing ideals especially for women, Confucianism lurks the root of the tragedy of growth. It requires that women have no individuality. Lin Daiyu is a talented, passionate, multi-hearted, absent-minded and trying to achieve personal choice of women. But it is accused of being a “woman” and “losing her part” as the root of its tragedy. The tragedy of Daiyu is the conflict between Confucian ethics and her personality.
