本文第一部分介绍在现有技术条件下使计算机性能实现飞跃的一种新型体系结构——连接计算机(CM)的系统结构。详细论述了这种称之为大规模并行的机器的发展过程、工作原理及其软件环境。第二部分介绍CM的改进型CM-2在结构及性能上的许多重要改进,包括增加浮点加速器和高速I/O系统、重新设计处理器芯片、改进通信网格等。第三部分论述这种并行计算机的广阔应用前景,具体讨论了在材料学、VLSI设计及计算机视觉等三个领域中的应用情况。
The first part of this article introduces a new architecture that makes the performance of the computer leapfrog in the state of the art-the system architecture of a connected computer (CM). The development process, working principle and software environment of this kind of machine called massively parallel are discussed in detail. The second part introduces many important improvements in structure and performance of CM’s CM-2, including adding floating-point accelerators and high-speed I / O systems, redesigning processor chips, and improving communication grids. The third part discusses the broad application prospect of this kind of parallel computer, and discusses the application in the fields of materials science, VLSI design and computer vision in detail.
