According to a recent report by The Lancet, scientific research funded by the NIH National Institutes of Health, known as the twentieth century, is being seriously harmed as a result of a serious shortage of research funds. Taking its major research project R01 as an example, one third of the nearly 20,000 applications were still funded in 1988 and subsequently declined year by year. The percentage of funding received now is less than 12%. There are many reasons for this unfortunate situation. First and foremost, the leaders of the institute can not successfully make Congress aware of the importance of the natural sciences. Second, the direct and indirect costs of research work have greatly increased over the annual inflation. In addition, other improper use of funds has also led to new research funding
