Researchers have reached a new milestone in the field of synthetic carbohydrate chemistry by assembling the longest and most complex polysaccharide to date:Xin-Shan Ye and coworkers from Peking University have synthesized a 92-mer mycobacterial arabinogalactan (Fig.1),nearly twice as large as any polysaccharide made before[1].
