唐休璟是唐代著名边将和朝中重臣,其战勋政绩,《两唐书.唐璿传》多有阙漏,且叙事时有颠倒,所记年代亦率多模糊不清。本文根据《右仆射太子少师唐璿神道碑》,参稽《册府元龟》等散见资料,复原了唐休璟以安西副都护、检校庭州刺史、西州都督、西州刺史等主政西域时期的重要事迹,及东返后又领灵州都督、灵武道大总管、幽营都督、安东都护等重要军职,出任朝中宰辅时期又先后参加了废周兴唐、唐隆政变时期的禁中密会,及其老年四次致仕、三次复出的事迹。
