1999年9月18日,中共中央、国务院、中央军委追授“两弹一星功勋奖章”的7名功臣中,有一个令许多人感到陌生的名字,那就是郭永怀。郭永怀是我国著名力学专家、应用数学家,他历任中国科学院力学研究所研究员、副所长,中国科技大学化学物理系主任、教授,中国力学学会和航空学会副理事长,第一届全国人大代表,第二届全国政协委员,1961年加入中国共产党,1968年12月不幸因公殉职,被授予烈士称号。郭永怀去世后,著名科学家钱学森悲痛地说:“中华民族失去了一个天才的儿子。”
On September 18, 1999, out of the seven contributors to the “two bombs and one medal of meritorious service” awarded by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission, one person many people feel unfamiliar to that name is Guo Yonghuai. Guo Yonghuai is a well-known mechanics expert and applied mathematician in China. He served successively as a researcher and deputy director of Mechanics Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, director and professor of Department of Chemical Physics of China University of Science and Technology, vice president of China Society of Mechanics and Society of Aeronautics, , The second member of the CPPCC National Committee, joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1961, in December 1968 unfortunately died because of the public office, was awarded the title of martyr. After Guo Yonghuai died, famous scientist Qian Xuesen said sadly: “The Chinese nation has lost a talented son.”
