Thoman & Betts, USA, has developed a trunkless fiber optic transmission line with an effective transmission range of 425 feet. The new line uses a new low-loss plastic optical fiber and a highly sensitive receiver detector. The new fiber optic transmission line, reportedly called a data channel, has reportedly been installed on site with no additional tools and instead relied on a simple RS 232 C receptacle between two stations that digitally make bidirectional data transmissions.
