中古中国的维摩诘信仰是中国文化史上一个非常引人注目的现象,基于该信仰的维摩诘造像也极为兴盛,遗存丰富,形成了一个长达800多年的图像流变序列,其图像创造的来源值得关注。本文从经典文本本身,外来造像模式的启发,本土艺术资源的利用等方面入手,分析了维摩诘图像的创造及其图像来源。基于该范式而创造的维摩诘形象,也体现了中国传统文化价值和佛教义理的完美融合。
The Vimalakirtian belief in Middle China is a very striking phenomenon in the history of Chinese culture.
