The old building of the Japanese Red Cross headquarters was designed by Yasugi Lai Huang and built in Meiji 45. However, due to two fires, it has undergone a great deal of change, so that its interior, roof structure and outer window frames are not the same. In short, it is impossible to repair old buildings as they are, because half of the original land must be sold in order to raise construction costs. Considering this situation, when the old building was demolished, the architect tried to save the important parts of the old building’s interior and introduced them into the new building as a memorial to history.
