The effect of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) on the level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells was observed by immunohistochemistry to reveal the mechanism by which PDGF promotes neovascularization. The results showed that the level of VEGF in endothelial cells increased in hypoxia culture. Different doses of PDGF could increase the VEGF level in endothelial cells under normal or hypoxia conditions in a dose-dependent manner, suggesting that PDGF might directly induce angiogenesis The mediation of factors indirectly promote the formation of new blood vessels.
