When it comes to the significance of Confucianism to Chinese classical music, we must first mention Confucius. Although Confucius’s argument about music is not systematic, it is absolutely abundant in the Spring and Autumn Period. The research shows that Confucius has achieved a good level of obsession with music; Confucius has a strong sense of ritual and music in terms of concept; he relates music to the realm of ideal personality; The appeal to harmony and the doctrine of the mean reflects a strong aesthetic taste of the elite. In connection with the aesthetic taste of such an elite, the principle of the judgment of his music and prostitution reflects the strong sense of demarcation of elites and the general public as well as the awareness of anti-mass culture . It is these Confucian ideas that led to the final formation of Confucian musical theory.
