据不完全统计,全国有科学副刊的报纸不下百家,每位科学副刊的责任编辑有个共同的心愿:在自己负责的版面上,把最新的科学知识介绍给读者。但由于编辑对“新知识”的标准掌握不一,在有的科学副刊上往往出现不受读者欢迎的文章。有些编辑取舍稿件以“我”为中心,把自己闻所未闻的知识,误以为是新知识,而介绍给读者。读者看到这些“老掉牙”、“炒冷饭”的知识,却无不为之摇头。由此可见,科学副刊编辑在组稿和取舍稿件时,掌握衡量“新知识”的标准至关重要。笔者根据自己多年来编辑科学副刊的体会,认为在取舍稿件时,从以下几点掌握和衡量“新知识”的标准很重要。新发现、新发明、新创造的知识。当今世界,科学技术迅猛发展,新学科、新知识、新发明不断涌现,有人作过统计:20世纪60年代在自然科学领域中的新发现、发明项目,已超过了以往两千年的总和,这说明可供科学副刊报道的内容有许许多多,关键是选择发表的“火候”。见报的时机选择恰当,可起到事半功
