从20世纪90年代真正兴起的“卡通一代”艺术群体所传递的新一代文化视角、平面化的视觉风格和视觉气质,以及建立新鲜的社会和历史记忆等创作理念来看,第一次正式确立了“中国卡通绘画”的艺术语言和艺术理论。中国的卡通绘画艺术能够迅速在中国兴起并为大众所接受,首先在于无处不在的娱乐化社会背景。当代社会,娱乐消遣是人们日常精神生活的一个重要组成部分。随着科技的快速发展,我们的生活环境每天都在发生变化,直接导致审美趣味和审美潮流越来越朝向对形象或形式的刺激。其次,卡通绘画作品中的娱乐特性正符合了当代社会的审美取向。卡通绘画和其他艺术形式相比,显得别具一格,正是由于“卡通”的图式所导致的。卡通绘画中的符号化形象具有相对简约、夸张、易读的特征,在造型和题材上都给人以强烈的视觉冲击和愉悦的审美趣味。

The symbolic image in the cartoon painting has relatively simple, exaggerated and easy-to-read features, giving a strong visual impact and pleasing aesthetic taste on the shapes and themes.
