扒龙船,是湘西里耶端午节的重要活动。自古以来,在这个土家《梯玛神歌》咏唱的东方诺亚方舟——八面山下,为纪念齐天大水、神船渡人、兄妹成亲的龙船赛,格外特别、格外热闹。从五月初龙船下水,到五月二十“龙相会”船上岸,湘渝两地总有数十条龙船参与比赛。赢的,赢得硬棒,输的, 输得含服,其中的故事和滋味一直要讲到第二年新龙船下水。既然是赛,就必然要较真,甚至会出现一些过火行为,难怪许多人谈起上世纪八十年代比赛中发生的群殴、三十年代比赛中发生的枪战事件,至今还见仁见智激动莫名。
