乔治·奥威尔的小说《在缅甸的日子》体现了他对大英帝国在东方殖民事业的质疑和抨击,但他的不健康心态却又使这部小说染上了浓厚的东方主义色彩,这使他对大英帝国的质疑显得并不彻底。本文借助后殖民理论对这一小说进行检视,并将之与吉卜林、福斯特、夏洛蒂.勃朗特等人的小说文本进行比较。
George Orwell’s novel “The Day in Burma” reflects his questioning and attacking of the British Empire in the colonial cause in the East, but his unhealthy mentality has put the novel in a strong orientalist style, His questioning of the British Empire is not complete. This article examines the novel with postcolonial theory and compares it with texts of novels by Kipling, Forster, and Charlotte Bronte.
